The National Safety Council tells us that motorcyclists have, on average, a 50 percent higher chance of being involved in an accident than automobile drivers. Motorists often have trouble seeing motorcycles and reacting in time.
Tips from the National Motorcycle Safety Foundation:
-
Remember that the only thing between you and the road is your protective gear. Wear a quality helmet, eye protection and thick protective clothing
-
Make sure your headlight works and is on day and night
-
Use reflective strips and decals on your clothing and motorcycle
-
Be aware of blind spots of cars and trucks
-
Use lane positioning to be seen. Ride in the part of the lane where you are most visible.
Even when wearing a helmet and proper safety attire, a motorcyclist does not have the advantage that an enclosed automobile driver has when it comes to avoiding injury in even the most minor of crashes. Attorneys at The Roth Firm are experienced in dealing with motorcycle injuries and can help you get back on the road again. Give us a call.
